Ann Duran's Biography
I have worked in the securities industry for over twenty years, beginning my career in Kansas in 1983 as a wire operator and then becoming licensed in both Series 7 and Series 8 after my move to Arizona in 1992. While it has been a fascinating way to meet people and observe the mechanics of the investment banking and securities community, my true love has always been literature. I grew up engrossed in the classics, with my favorite authors being Louisa May Alcott, Alexandre Dumas and Mark Twain. I was one of those children who would sneak a flashlight into bed and read under the covers.
My burning ambition to become a newspaper reporter was postponed while I took an alternate life path. Consequently, my writing career began late, but better late than never. That old saying, while trite, is certainly true. I began writing Phoenix Rising, the middle book of a planned trilogy, in September of 2001 and recently completed the final draft. In 2003, I became an active member of the Romance Writers of America, and Valley of the Sun Romance Writers. In 2005, I joined the Arizona Authors Association.
